About the role

This position is a collaboration funded by the EPSRC between the University of Exeter, King's College London, and Imperial College London. The goal is to advance understanding of materials that vary over time. The successful applicant will work with Professor Rupert Oulton and Professor Riccardo Sapienza in London, alongside experimental collaborators, to develop experiments in the field of metamaterials that vary in space and time.

What you would be doing

As a Research Associate, your responsibilities will include conducting research in photonic metamaterials, nanophotonics, ultrafast spectroscopy, and structured light generation. You will manage projects and supervise multidisciplinary teams. Additionally, you will be expected to publish in refereed journals and seek external research funding.

Key duties include:

  • Developing optical experiments to study optical metamaterials and structuring light in space and time to modulate materials.
  • Characterizing time-varying photonic metamaterials and developing techniques for data collection and analysis.
  • Fabricating nanostructures required for experiments.
  • Assisting with data analysis.

Additional information

Applicants who have not yet received their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistants.
