Job description

About

We are hiring a Research Assistant to study the role of different extracellular matrices in heart regeneration.

In this role, you will be part of a dynamic and supportive team working at the intersection of cell biology and physics. You will culture heart tissue to model regeneration following damage. Using this system, you will dissect the mechanisms involved in heart regeneration. You should have an understanding of biomaterials for tissue engineering and tissue regeneration.

  • Electrospinning, biocomaptability and electrical activity testing
  • Contribute to day-to-day running of the lab

About You

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with:

  • An undergraduate or master’s degree in a biological science or relevant subject.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment (including cell culture, electrospinning and halospinning nanofibres and biocomaptability testing, experience in the design of functionalised de novo-based hydrogels, immunostaining and bioimaging, scanning electron microscopy and mass spectroscopy)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Clear communication skills
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Enthusiasm for learning new skills and techniques
