Job description

Salary: £33,482 - £38,249 per annum

Full-Time, Fixed-term appointment for 12 months

Based in Liverpool with occasional international travel

The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in global health research and education. The Centre for Capacity Research (CCR), based within the Department of International Public Health, is dedicated to improving the effectiveness of capacity strengthening initiatives in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support a range of research activities across the Centre’s portfolio. This includes mixed-methods research focused on health systems strengthening, research capacity strengthening, and equitable global health partnerships. This role will entail helping to plan and support implementation research activities, literature reviews, surveys, analysis of predominantly qualitative data, and contribute to dissemination outputs.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Support implementation research activities, including but not limited to organizing stakeholder holder and other participatory workshops, data collection and predominantly qualitative data analysis
  • Support design of instruments and collection of data on literature reviews, surveys, ripple effect mapping and other research activities within CCR projects
  • Contribute to relevant peer-reviewed publications from projects
  • Contribute to other dissemination outputs including dissemination workshops and presentations
  • Contribute to CCR team meetings, activities and projects

Skills

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as an integral and flexible member of fast-paced multi-disciplinary research team. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Master’s degree in social sciences or any other related field (e.g. global health, public health)
  • Highly experienced in data analysis of qualitative research and reporting
  • Knowledge of implementation research methods
  • Proficient in data analysis and management software of qualitative and data (e.g. NVivo)
  • Familiarity with the research and socio-cultural context of some countries in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Ability to network and develop partnerships
