Research Assistant 1, Lawson - 1 position

Location: Lawson, St. Joseph's Hospital - London, ON

Type: Temporary Full Time

Salary Range: $26.01 - $32.51 /hour

This position is expected to extend until June 1, 2026, subject to work availability. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Tamara Spaic and Dr. Selina Liu, supporting clinical research studies in diabetes and endocrinology.

The Research Assistant 1 (RA) will be responsible for organizing, administering, and coordinating clinical research tasks, maintaining documentation to ensure data quality and integrity. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing data collection, entry support, and database management
  • Assisting with grant applications, Research Ethics Board submissions, and manuscript preparations
  • Supporting research activities such as meetings, onboarding trainees, and team coordination
  • Liaising with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff
  • Assisting with participant recruitment
  • Maintaining GCP standards in documentation management

This role is 37.5 hours per week, five days a week, with annual renewal based on funding.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, and planning skills for high-pressure environments and confidential matters
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, capable of conveying medical and general information effectively
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and exercise good judgment
  • Professional attitude, tact, and adaptability
  • Organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Office 365
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in academic or research settings
  • Teamwork ability
  • Training in ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Knowledge of LHRI policies, ReDA, LORA submissions, and WREM procedures
  • Familiarity with REDCap
Immunization Requirements
  • Vaccination records or proof of immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, Hepatitis B, COVID-19, and influenza
  • Documentation of Tuberculosis skin testing
