Job summary

A leading UK educational institution is seeking an ambitious individual to join a research team focused on understanding brown adipose tissue's role in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The role includes undertaking experimental research and collaborating with students and staff. The successful candidate will ideally have a Master's degree or equivalent experience and may be required to travel to France for research purposes. Training for necessary certifications will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Masters in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in a relevant subject and working in a laboratory environment.
  • Preferably in possession of a Home Office Personal Licence (PIL).
  • Applicants without a PIL will be considered with training provided.

Overview

This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join Professor Bowerman’s research group in Keele University’s School of Medicine and Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Responsibilities
  1. Be involved in an exciting project aimed at better understanding the contribution of brown adipose tissue in the metabolic defects that occur in the neuromuscular condition spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), using pre-clinical models.
  2. Undertake experimental research and general laboratory activities associated with the role.
  3. Be part of a research team composed of undergraduate students, postgraduate students and academic staff.
  4. Travel for a short period of time to France to undertake experimental research associated with the role with a collaborator.
Qualifications

You will have a Masters in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in a relevant subject and working in a laboratory environment and preferably in possession of a Home Office Personal Licence (PIL). Applicants without a PIL will also be considered and training and certification provided once in post.
