Job summary

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is seeking a Research Assistant for the ANH Academy Science-Policy Platform. You will analyze and synthesize research on agriculture and food systems to improve nutrition, identify timely topics, and produce analytical summaries.

You will collaborate with national and international groups and contribute to disseminating research outputs. The role is full-time, 1.0 FTE, fixed term until 30 April 2028, with a pro rata salary on LSHTM's Grade

• Experience conducting advanced quantitative analysis.

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. The Agriculture, Nutrition and Health (ANH) Academy Science-Policy Platform is a £20m five-year LSHTM-led consortium, co-funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). A global evidence platform accelerating actions towards equitable and just food systems for nutrition and health, whilst confronting climate change and protecting nature, through interdisciplinary research, capability sharing and collaboration.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for undertaking analysis and synthesis of research in agriculture and food systems for improved nutrition. Duties will include identifying and researching issues of current or potential interest to the ANH Academy Science-Policy Platform, producing critical analyses and summaries, working on systematic reviews and drafting and disseminating various types of research documents. The job will involve close collaboration with research groups across national and international programmes, monitoring and summarising new developments in the field. The post-holder must have a first degree the field of Economics or a related field and experience conducting advanced quantitative analysis.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 30 April 2028. The post is co-funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Gates Foundation and is available from 01 November 2026.

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,984 - £45,728 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.
