Job description

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed-term: 3 years

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our programme of ovarian cancer research as a Research Assistant within the CRUK Scotland Centre, University of Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a diverse team of scientists and clinician scientists across projects that span basic laboratory science to translational research with direct clinical relevance. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a programme of research aimed at improving outcomes for individuals with ovarian cancer.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time working patterns, or working in a condensed hours format. We encourage hybrid and flexible working within our team to promote student and staff welfare. The present role comprises a substantial proportion of work that necessitates on-site work (due to the need for laboratory facilities to undertake many of the job aspects), but other elements (e.g. administrative work) are readily amenable to remote working.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Interest or experience in cancer research, gynaecological cancers, or more broadly in women’s health research
  • Highly motivated and organised
  • Experience with mammalian tissue culture and other routine laboratory techniques
  • Experience in contributing to high quality research
