THE ROLE
Research & Knowledge Analysts provide expert legal and business research, and knowledge management consultancy to the Firm and its clients. They specialise in both legal, or business, research and analysis, and are experts 'embedded' within internal teams through relationship-building.

DUTIES
The following list of duties is not exhaustive but gives a flavour of the duties all Research & Knowledge Analysts undertake:

INFORMATION AND RESEARCH
● To develop and maintain a deep understanding one or more of the Firm's priority market sectors (as allocated) both in terms of their likely research needs and as sources of internal know-how and the research databases and sources of information required to support this.
● To apply this understanding to knowledge of the Firm's business to highlight potential market opportunities.
● By providing both reactive and proactive research and analysis.
● Through effective scoping of research enquiries.
● And using appropriate research/analysis tools and techniques.
● Designs tailored current awareness to the Firm and its clients using appropriate sources and technology.
● Supports the information and knowledge requirements of the sector teams.
● Provides training/advisory role in the provision of research skills training to groups and individuals at all levels of the Firm.

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
● Builds effective relationships at all levels within the Firm as internal clients, colleagues on projects, and as sources of knowledge and information. Demonstrates a proactive approach, and persistence and resilience in relationship building.
● Builds effective external relationships as potential sources of information and insight.

COMMUNICATIONS
● Able to clearly articulate and promote the value of Research & Knowledge Services and the Research & Knowledge Analyst role to the Firm and its clients.
● Able to tailor communications style to the needs of the audience.
● Credible as a source of knowledge and insight and regarded as an expert advisor to colleagues and teams.

TEAM WORK
● Providing an excellent 'front-line' research service as required – managing and responding to research requests received centrally by the team via the Research & Knowledge Services helpdesk with the use of appropriate legal and business research, and knowledge management tools and techniques.
● Manage own and Team workload, delegating and/or making effective use of resources.
● Demonstrates accountability to internal stakeholders.

SUPPORTING INNOVATION
● Works with the team to react and adapt to changes in the Firm and its business.
● Challenges existing ways of working to ensure that the role and team are always delivering a genuinely different, quality service.
● Initiates and takes lead role in project delivery for new ways of working within RKS alongside BAU responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (BESPOKE TO ROLE)

● IT literate good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook; experience of knowledge management tools such as SharePoint or HighQ preferred.
● Able to work on own initiative to tight deadlines and co-ordinate competing activities whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner at all times.
● Confidence to delegate and negotiate work deadlines.
● Dynamic, and possessing a positive attitude to change.
