Summary

The Senior Clinical Pharmacist in Orthopaedics is a crucial role within our healthcare team. This individual will report to and be managed by the Lead Pharmacist, while also maintaining professional accountability to the Chief Pharmacist / Clinical Director.

Key Responsibilities
Team Management
  • Oversee a team of clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy support workers.
  • Ensure the planning and delivery of high-quality clinical pharmacy and medicine management services.
Clinical Services
  • Provide specialized clinical pharmacy and medicine management services.
  • Represent the orthopaedic directorate in specialty meetings.
  • Offer expert advice to the directorate, the Trust, and the broader health economy.
Collaboration and Development
  • Work closely with patients, healthcare professionals, consultants, and Care Group leads.
  • Develop and deliver services that align with the priorities and needs of patients and service providers.
Cross-Boundary Liaison
  • Collaborate with other pharmacy teams, healthcare professionals, and external agencies.
  • Address medicine management issues across different boundaries to ensure cohesive practice.
Practice Influence and Safety
  • Influence local practices to ensure safe medication use.
  • Ensure that both personal practice and the practice of others adhere to good prescribing practices, patient safety, and risk minimization.
Strategic Contribution
  • Participate in the site-based senior pharmacy management team.
  • Contribute to strategy, policy development, and operational and financial planning.
