Responsibilities:

  • Develop and provide a clinical pharmacy service for Trauma and Orthopaedics patients.
  • Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and offer strategic guidance on clinical pharmacy issues.
  • Influence safe and cost-effective drug therapy, including new drug evaluations and financial reporting.
  • Identify and encourage improvements in pharmaceutical care and prescribing.
  • Review and develop policies and procedures for safe medication handling.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, best practices, and guidelines.
  • Undertake risk management, develop audits, and lead education and training initiatives.
  • Contribute to research and audit projects associated with drug use in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
  • Manage and train junior staff, acting as a team leader for the clinical pharmacy team.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in Trauma and Orthopaedics with knowledge of general surgery, plastics surgery, and intensive care.
  • Ability to provide advice and consultancy to patients, healthcare professionals, and other agencies.
  • Participate in MDT on consultant ward rounds and work toward supporting prescribing as an independent prescriber.
