Are you a dedicated and skilled Sonographer looking for an exciting opportunity in a busy, fast-paced Ultrasound department in a teaching hospital? We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Ultrasound team, working alongside experienced Sonographers and Radiologists to deliver outstanding patient care across multiple sites within our Trust.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment, gaining experience in a wide range of ultrasound services while making a real difference to patient care.

Main duties of the job
What You'll Do
  • Work across our main sites at Leeds General Infirmary and St James, with the possibility of covering peripheral sites at Seacroft and Wharfedale.
  • Provide high-quality obstetric, inpatient, and outpatient ultrasound services.
  • Support the regional transplant service, including pre- and post-renal and liver transplants.
  • Gain valuable experience in our dedicated Paediatric Ultrasound department.
  • Work in a fast-paced and diverse clinical environment, with opportunities for skill development and career progression.

Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services through unsupervised scanning sessions.
  • Independently formulate comprehensive diagnostic reports and communicate findings to referring clinicians.
  • Act as an expert resource to clinicians and hospital staff.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain professional development via meetings and training.
  • Mentor and supervise Student Sonographers, Specialist Registrars, and Radiologists.

Person Specification

Experience (Essential):

  • Experience with a range of Ultrasound techniques including Obstetrics and General Medical Ultrasound.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, pathologies, and conditions.
  • Familiarity with guidelines and protocols.
  • Ability to work independently with strong report writing skills.

Desirable: Vascular experience.

Additional Requirements: Must meet Occupational Health requirements, including blood-borne virus clearance.

Qualifications (Essential):
  • Degree or equivalent in Healthcare Studies.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound.
  • HCPC registration or equivalent.
  • Certified to perform Nuchal Translucency Screening.

Desirable: Master's degree in Medical Ultrasound.

Skills & Behaviours (Essential):
  • Excellent communication and counselling skills.
  • High dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Evidence of CPD.

Desirable: Participation in audits, research experience in Ultrasound.

This role requires a DBS check and current UK professional registration.
