Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience working as a surveyor in housing or similar area.
  • Proven experience diagnosing building defects and specifying repairs.
  • Experience managing responsive repairs and contractor performance.
  • Good understanding of domestic construction methods and building pathology.
  • Knowledge of housing disrepair legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent report writing and IT skills.
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and manage a busy patch.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake property inspections for responsive repairs across your designated housing patch.
  • Diagnose building defects and identify the most appropriate repair solutions.
  • Investigate reports of damp, mould and condensation, determining the root cause and specifying effective remedial works.
  • Differentiate between structural defects, water ingress, condensation and ventilation-related issues.
  • Produce detailed specifications and schedules of work for contractors.
  • Raise works orders and instruct contractors in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Manage repairs from inspection through to completion, ensuring quality, value for money and customer satisfaction.
  • Carry out post-inspections to verify workmanship and contractor performance.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with quality standards, timescales and health and safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors and internal teams to resolve complex repair issues.
  • Manage disrepair cases where required and support the organisation in reducing legal risk.
  • Maintain accurate survey reports, photographic records and property information.
  • Ensure repairs comply with relevant legislation, building regulations and organisational policies.
  • Provide professional technical advice to residents and colleagues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the responsive repairs and damp and mould service.

Job description

We are recruiting for an experienced Repairs Surveyor managing a dedicated housing patch across Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor with experience in responsive repairs, damp and mould investigations, and property defect diagnosis who is passionate about improving residents' homes and delivering high-quality repairs.

Working within a busy social housing environment, you will be responsible for inspecting properties, diagnosing building defects, identifying the root causes of damp and mould, specifying remedial works, and managing repairs through to successful completion.

As a Repairs Surveyor, you will take ownership of a designated geographical patch, ensuring responsive repairs are delivered efficiently, safely and to a high standard. You will work closely with residents, contractors and internal teams to ensure repairs are completed within agreed timescales while delivering an excellent customer experience.

What We\'re Looking For

We are looking for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service.

You will have:

  • Experience of working as a surveyor within housing or a similar area

Desirable
