Salary: £31,996.12 - £33,246.72 per year

Job Description

To be responsible for the onsite delivery of the Council’s repairs service and to ensure that these are carried out within agreed targets, that work is of a high quality, that budgets are controlled, that resources are appropriately managed and that the work done by the DLO continues to offer the Council best value.

Responsibilities

To assist the Repairs Co-ordinator as required, and be responsible for organising and delivering a range of repairs to housing and other non-housing property assets.

To be the responsible for on-site line management of staff and to ensure that tradesmen are deployed in an efficient and cost effective manner.

To be responsible for continuous improvement and to know where performance is strong and where there are areas for development and challenge. Address any areas of poor performance.

To ensure that repairs staff provide a strong focus on customer care in accordance with Council policy and ensure that staff place customers at the fore and aim to consider their needs in service delivery.

To ensure that staff on-site, work in a safe environment and that they adhere to current health and safety policy and practices. To be responsible for your own health and safety in the workplace.

Management of vehicles, plant and all building materials under the control of the Repairs Team.

To undertake training as required and to train and develop staff.

The Individual

Previous experience in a supervisory capacity of construction/ maintenance operatives.

Understanding of Building Maintenance works.

Full driving licence.

Ability to organise and prioritise own/others workload.

Good organisational/planning skills

Good working knowledge of a variety of building trades

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/ van.

To have sound judgement and work under own initiative

Ability to work to tight deadlines

Good communication skills (written and oral)

Proven track record

Ability to provide effective leadership within a customer focussed environment

Ability to work on site within a construction environment

Able to work under pressure to balance competing demands and sustain outputs

Ability to manually lift goods not exceeding 15 Kg in weight.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our Building Services team at the DLO, that directly employ over 150 multi trade and specialist support staff. Services provided include building maintenance and improvement services to the Council’s 6,300 houses, as well as reactive and planned maintenance too other Council building that includes schools, offices and libraries.
