Repairs and Maintenance Manager

  • Payrate: £35 - £40 per hour

Manchester City Council is seeking a dedicated Repairs and Maintenance Manager to join our Housing Services Department. This role is pivotal in managing and organising the front-line delivery of work activities, leading strategic initiatives, and ensuring high-quality service delivery in line with council objectives.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance services.
  • Engage with stakeholders to align work programmes with strategic goals and community needs.
  • Supervise on-site activities, ensuring compliance with standards, legislation, and safety regulations.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with third-sector organisations, community groups, and other council departments.
  • Drive service improvement strategies to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Manage resources effectively, including staff through direct or matrix management.
  • Promote a culture of diversity, equality, and inclusion in both employment and service delivery.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Construction-related qualification or equivalent extensive experience in housing management.
  • Proven track record in public service delivery and understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in people management and team development.
  • Excellent partnership working abilities, with experience influencing senior stakeholders and managing external suppliers.
  • Proficient in financial management including budget forecasting and monitoring.

  • Full driving licence and access to a car, with willingness to work outside normal hours as needed.
