Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent

Managed by a repairs team leader, you'll be supportive and welcoming team. Leading by example, you'll promote an ethos within the team ad with colleagues which displays the council's visions and values. This is a full time, permanent post for 37 hours per week. Hours will be flexible however you may be required to work occasionally outside of normal working hours, including evenings and weekends. These hours would be agreed in advance and implemented on a rota basis. We promote agile working, where you will be able to work from home and various sites around the city.

What you'll be doing

As well as providing first line supervision, you'll provide quality control, technical support, training and guidance to repairs operatives carrying out all kinds of repairs and maintenance in domestic properties and other LCC properties, such as shops, garages and other public building. Using your substantial technical expertise, you will deal with complex technical problems, giving technical advice and providing on-site support to staff as necessary. Alongside this, you'll undertake site visits to repairs operatives to check progress, quality, compliance and condition of works. You'll undertake complex assessments and investigations to resolve issues; monitoring progress and taking appropriate action where required and provide an advanced level of technical advice to a variety of stakeholders. You will also undertake regular quality control, technical investigations/ technical support, training and guidance to ensure health and safety, and regulatory standards are delivered.

What you'll need

Alongside an understanding of health and safety and regulatory compliance. A comprehensive understanding and experience of undertaking repairs, installations and maintenance works as a trade operative. You will be able to identify and deliver training needs in both formal and informal settings, in relation to repairs work. Being able to manage a caseload, you'll need excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside being able to competently use standard IT systems. Ideally you will hold a relevant trade specific or construction qualification. You will need a valid full UK driving license.
