Job description

Repairs & MaintenanceSurveyor – North West London-based Council
£300.00 per day Umbrella / Deemed LTD (Inside IR35)
37 hours per week
Temporary, Ongoing Contract – ASAP Start

We’re currently working with a North West London-based Local Authority seeking an experienced Contracts Surveyor to support the delivery of responsive repairs and voids works across their housing portfolio. This role is key to ensuring contractor performance, compliance, and customer satisfaction, with a focus on value for money, quality control, and legal/statutory obligations.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and monitor responsive repairs and voids contracts (up to £1.2m in value)
  • Carry out inspections, specify works using NHF Schedule of Rates, and ensure efficient repairs delivery
  • Oversee contractor performance through regular meetings and quality audits
  • Manage customer complaints, disrepair claims, insurance matters, and Member enquiries
  • Ensure works comply with building legislation, health & safety regulations, and contractual requirements
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Smarter Housing Plan and support cross-team projects
  • Provide accurate cost assessments and control spend in line with service budgets
  • Liaise with residents and ensure excellent service delivery standards are maintained
Requirements:
  • Minimum HNC/HND in Building Surveying or a related field
  • Proven experience in housing repairs, voids inspections, and contract management
  • Strong technical knowledge of building pathology, NHF SORs, and H&S regulations
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and reporting skills
  • Ability to manage legal claims, complaints, and deliver VFM services
  • Flexible approach with the ability to attend emergency call-outs or evening meetings if required
