Repairs and Maintenance Team Leader Job description

The Council's Repairs and Maintenance Service is recruiting 1 permanent Team Leader for the responsive repairs team.

The Role

To supervise, plan, organize, and deploy multi-trade employees on repairs and maintenance, programmed and minor capital works, aligning with service and client expectations.

Our team leaders lead Responsive Repairs operatives to deliver operational priorities, ensuring high service standards for Sheffield residents.

Responsibilities include resource management via organizational scheduling, contributing to high performance and continuous improvement, and working within a dynamic office environment.

The role requires compliance with health and safety policies, adapting to task changes, and prioritizing work effectively.

Key Essential Skills and Person Specification
  • Lead, supervise, and direct multi-trade repairs teams to meet standards and targets.
  • Ensure cost-effective allocation of resources, including subcontractors.
  • Supervise resources such as materials, plant, and transport.
  • Plan work activities with Coordinators to meet timescales and standards.
  • Manage variations, extensions, and billing processes.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and conduct follow-up investigations.
  • Process documentation and orders using IT systems.
  • Provide management information and contribute to reports and statistics.
  • Use ICT systems efficiently to deliver responsive services.
  • Adhere to health and safety legislation, promote a safety culture, and ensure proper use of protective equipment.
  • Exemplify leadership, supervise, and develop team members through coaching and reviews.
  • Monitor team performance and develop improvement plans.
  • Build effective relationships with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
  • Engage in organizational culture, transformational initiatives, and service development.
