Job summary

Woodward Prestwick is seeking a Repair and Overhaul Technician to maintain aircraft engine fuel controls to high aerospace standards. You will work under an Operations Supervisor, performing teardown, assembly, testing and inspection of engines and components for Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The role emphasizes precision, data recording and adherence to safety protocols. You will collaborate across teams to analyze work scope, follow SOPs, and ensure quality and efficiency while upholding

As a Repair and Overhaul Technician, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the high standards of quality and precision that Woodward is known for in the aerospace industry. You will work under the supervision of an Operations Supervisor, performing essential tasks such as assembly, testing, and inspection of aircraft engines and components, ensuring each product meets the highest operational and engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teardown, Assembly and Test Product: Follows documented procedures to accurately and efficiently teardown, assemble and test product using specified tools and equipment.

  • Process: Coordinates with appropriate members and cross-functional teams to perform analysis, investigation, and work scope of product.

  • Quality: Conducts inspections and tests to verify the accuracy and functionality of products and records and maintains data per operating standards.

  • Organisation & Cleanliness: Adheres to 5S principles by keeping workstations clean, organised, and free of unnecessary items. Follows established guidelines to ensure tools, materials, and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

  • Safety Mindset: Adheres to all established safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements; maintains mindfulness of self and surrounding work area to promote a safe working environment.

  • Technical Capability: Understands and follows basic technical instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Evaluates product and determines component replacement needs for low-complexity product.

  • Critical Thinking: Identifies gap-to-standard and resolves or escalates them per standard processes/procedures.

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Demonstrates basic understanding of mechanical systems and components. Can tear down, assemble and test products. Uses hand tools and basic equipment safely and effectively. Completes basic changeovers and setups.

  • Team Communication: Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors to support workflow and elevate immediate issues. Adherence to Woodward’s Core Values.

  • Time Management: Effectively manages time to complete assigned tasks within established schedules. Adheres to individual schedule.

  • Lean Mindset: Follows lean practices such as 5S and waste reduction. Participates in continuous improvement activities.

  • Production Systems: Understands and adheres to standardized work and escalates when cannot be followed. Actively participates in the daily management system.

  • Computer Skills: Uses basic software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, data entry tools) to complete tasks.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensures precision in tasks to maintain high quality standards. Follows instructions precisely and checks work for accuracy.

  • Collaboration: Works cooperatively with team members to support overall team objectives and workflow and accepts feedback.

  • Salary midpoint £36,000 (Current shift pattern is days/nights, with a 16% allowance. As the facility grows, the shift pattern may change)

  • Woodward Operations Incentive bonus scheme – target of 7.5% paid quarterly, discretionary.

  • Vacation: We offer new members 29 days holiday plus 4 public holidays.

  • Personal Pension Scheme: All members will be automatically enrolled after month 1 with employer contribution of 9%.
