Job summary

Cotswold District Council is seeking an Investigation and Enforcement Officer (Renters Rights) to join the Counter Fraud and Enforcement Unit. You will investigate complex cases, gather evidence and take enforcement action to ensure compliance with housing law, protecting tenants and holding landlords accountable.

Based across Cheltenham, Cirencester, and partner offices, you will travel as needed. The role supports Renters Rights Act 2025 and requires BPSS and DBS checks.

Qualifications

  • Experience in similar roles.
  • Experience liaising with members of the public and colleagues.
  • Experience handling confidential information and an understanding of data protection issues.
  • Ability to travel and comply with BPSS and DBS requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate complex cases and gather evidence to support enforcement actions.
  • Protect tenants and hold landlords accountable for housing law breaches.
  • Collaborate with Private Sector Housing teams and partner councils across Gloucestershire.
  • Support implementation of the Renters Rights Act 2025 and related duties.
