Job description

Senior Rent and Service Charge Officer with experience in finance / accounting and social housing rents and service charges, ability to analyse and interpret numerical data, and excellent communication skills is required for a well-established housing association.

SALARY: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications) + excellent benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Hybrid working from the office in Evesham, Worcestershire (WR11) and from home, with travel to other offices, services, schemes, projects, housing, or development locations as required

Job Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Rent and Service Charge Officer with experience in finance / accounting and social housing rents and service charges, capable of analysing and interpreting numerical data, with excellent communication skills.

As the Senior Rent and Service Charge Officer, you will provide a financial business partnering service to the Operations and Resources Directorates. Your responsibilities include calculating annual rent uplift, ensuring rent calculations are correct and compliant with the Rent Standard, and completing the Statistical Data Return to the Social Housing Regulator.

You will also be the key contact for service charges, calculating charges in line with policy, leading on and preparing variable service charge reconciliations, and setting charges for new developments.

You will assist in producing monthly management accounts, specific working papers for statutory accounts, sector scorecard, and ensure the accuracy of financial statements.

Candidate Requirements
  • Working towards a professional accounting / finance qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or equivalent) or qualified by experience
  • Experience working in a finance setting
  • Experience with social housing rents & service charges
  • Experience handling complex or difficult data
  • Experience working in a housing association or a similarly regulated environment
  • Ability to analyse and interpret numerical and written information
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure
  • Proficient in relevant software applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to work across all levels of the business
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet strict deadlines
