Job summary

Ryan Specialty is seeking an assistant underwriter for the newly branded Ryan Renewables team in London. The role offers opportunities to advance within renewables or energy underwriting, with responsibility for a growing portfolio and strong broker relationships.

Based in London - UK, this position focuses on onshore and offshore renewables, with emphasis on risk assessment, compliance, and delivering high-quality service to clients and partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in Renewables preferred, but energy underwriting considered.
• Experience assessing commercial risks and managing broker relationships.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal onshore and offshore business.
• Review policy forms, endorsements and supporting documentation.
• Determine whether to accept, modify, or decline risks based on underwriting analysis.
• Establish appropriate coverage limits, premiums, terms and conditions.
• Manage and grow a profitable portfolio of Renewables accounts.
• Maintain broker relationships and deliver high-quality service throughout the policy lifecycle.
• Develop new business opportunities and maximise portfolio retention.
• Prepare premium forecasts and business plans to support financial targets.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and underwriting guidelines.

We are looking for a assistant underwriter ideally in the renewables market already, but could come from a broader energy background, looking to take that step up in their career. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious individual who is looking for greater scope to grow in their role and take on more responsibility.

What will your job entail?

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal onshore and offshore business.
• Review policy forms, endorsement requests, and supporting documentation.
• Determine whether to accept, modify, or decline risks based on underwriting analysis.
• Establish appropriate coverage limits, premiums, terms, and conditions.
• Manage and grow a profitable portfolio of Renewables accounts.

Required Experience & Education

• Previous experience in Renewables is preferred, but we will consider those with broader backgrounds in Energy underwriting
• Experience assessing commercial risks and managing broker relationships.
