Job Description

Discover BSR:

British Solar Renewables creates smart energy systems for a net zero carbon future. British Solar Renewables develops (BSR Energy), builds (BSR EPC), and maintains (BSR O&M) utility-scale solar, wind and storage projects in the UK and internationally. Having developed and built in excess of 700MWp BSR are a major contributor to the UK Renewable Energy Sector.

About the role:

Working closely with the Head of Legal, you’ll handle a variety of property-related legal matters, from negotiating agreements to managing compliance. If you thrive on delivering solutions, collaborating with diverse teams, and navigating complex legal landscapes, this is your chance to drive change in a fast-growing industry.

What You’ll Do:

You’ll ensure our renewable energy projects are legally watertight by:

  1. Leading Property Transactions: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating property documents like leases, easements, and site-sharing agreements while liaising with external lawyers and stakeholders.
  2. Securing Easements & Leases: Collaborating with grid teams and project managers to find cost-effective solutions for cable routes, substation leases, and wayleaves.
  3. Supporting Due Diligence & Funding: Resolving legal issues, negotiating agreements, and ensuring smooth project delivery for funders and buyers.
  4. Managing Risk & Compliance: Overseeing GDPR compliance, coordinating training, and assisting in risk management alongside company leaders.

What We’re Looking For:

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  1. Property Law Expertise: You’re a qualified solicitor with experience in property law, ideally within renewable energy or infrastructure.
  2. Sharp Negotiation Skills: You’ve successfully drafted and managed complex property agreements.
  3. Detail-Oriented Problem Solving: You thrive on conducting title reviews, managing due diligence, and addressing legal challenges.
  4. Collaborative Communication: You can confidently engage with internal teams, external lawyers, and key stakeholders.
  5. Compliance Knowledge: Experience in GDPR, risk management, or compliance is a bonus.

What you will get from BSR:

  1. Monthly social events, such as team lunches, breakfasts, volunteering and a Christmas and Summer party.
  2. Our Hybrid Working Policy allows you to work from home up to three days a week.
  3. Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption policies.
  4. An annual bonus scheme which rewards you for all of your hard work.
  5. A referral scheme for when you refer someone to work at BSR.
  6. Supporting you beyond work with our Employee Assistance Programme offering 24/7 support.
  7. BSR will fund one professional membership per annum.
  8. 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays, with the option to roll over up to 5 days.
  9. Long Service Recognition Scheme
  10. Private Health insurance after completion of 3-month probation period.
  11. Life insurance
  12. Pension

Studies have shown that some groups of people, like women, are less likely to apply for a role unless they meet 100% of the role requirements. At BSR, we are committed to equal opportunities in employment; if you are interested in one of our positions, we encourage you to apply.

Our hiring decisions are not just about technical skills; but also about finding individuals whose values, work ethic, and personality would make a great addition to our team.
