A renewable energy company based in the UK is seeking a Project Developer to manage renewable energy projects. Responsibilities include project origination, development management, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of relevant experience and a degree in a related field. About the role
We are expanding our Development portfolio and we are seeking to appoint a Project Developer to work across our greenfield origination and project development activities for new and existing renewable energy projects across the UK. The post will require someone who already has experience in originating and developing renewable energy projects, either through consultancy or development management.
The successful candidate will be based either in our Edinburgh or Glasgow office.
Your Responsibilities
The Project Developer will be responsible for the following areas of work:
Project Origination & Site Identification
Play a lead role within the team in identifying and assessing potential renewable sites based on resource potential, land availability, grid access, and permitting feasibility.
Conduct preliminary site evaluations in collaboration with GIS, land, and technical teams.
Development Management
Manage all allocated aspects of the project development lifecycle, including land negotiations, land contracting, grid connection, permitting, environmental studies, and community engagement.
Coordinate with internal teams (land, engineering, legal, grid, finance) to motivate achievement of project objectives, align project goals and timelines.
Manage project programmes, budgets, and risk profiles across assigned projects.
Permitting & Regulatory Compliance
Lead project design and consenting efforts, including coordination with consultants and statutory stakeholders.
Consult with planning authorities, consultees, stakeholder groups and the wider public, including presentations at public meetings and effective co-ordination of community and stakeholder relations.
Coordinate and mange external consultants – technical and environmental.
Report internally on project progress, both through written status reports and taking part in presentations at project and strategy meetings.

Whilst a significant amount of the work will be desk-based, you will be required to undertake site visits around the UK and attend meetings which will include overnight stays. A full driving license will be essential.
The job will also entail various other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required from time to time as directed by your line manager.
Project co-ordination and management
Technical and Professional Skills
At least 4 years previous experience within a similar role in the UK renewable energy market; particularly the planning system and pre-construction development activities.
A strong understanding of the renewable energy sector, with particular emphasis on wind, solar and battery storage development processes.
Sound knowledge of planning, permitting and delivery of grid connections for onshore renewables projects.
Experience of environmental impact assessments and preparation of EIA Reports.
Experience in stakeholder engagement and negotiation (e.g. landowners, management of advisors, public bodies).
Qualifications
A degree in a relevant discipline with relevant experience and skills.
