The role demands over 10 years of relevant engineering experience and a strong understanding of the Energy & Power sectors. Role: Renewable Risk Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Renewable Risk Engineer to support multi-line risk engineering activities across Construction, Energy & Power, Casualty, Environmental, and Financial Lines. The role focuses on the middle-market segment and involves working closely with underwriters, brokers, and clients to enhance technical risk understanding and mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead collaborative initiatives with cross-functional engineering teams to improve risk engineering processes and engagement.

  • Review and develop internal workflows to drive efficiency and consistency in risk evaluation.

  • Conduct risk surveys and site visits of renewable energy projects (e.g. wind, solar, battery storage, T&D assets).

  • Provide input into client-facing reports, including risk evaluations and improvement recommendations.

  • Contribute to the development of risk engineering guidance and tools.

Technical & Professional Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in engineering roles related to onshore wind, solar, battery energy storage systems, and power transmission & distribution.

  • Prior experience as an insurance risk engineer strongly preferred.

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline (BSc/BEng/MEng).

  • Chartered Engineer status (e.g. CEng with IMechE, IChemE, IStructE, ICE, etc.) preferred.

  • Deep understanding of the Energy & Power sectors, with a commitment to ongoing technical development.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences.

  • Self-motivated, outcome-driven professional with sound decision-making and prioritisation abilities.
