Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Renewable Energy Engineer to support the Head of Propositions for Sustainability and Net Zero by overseeing the delivery of services related to sustainability and data-driven sustainability projects.

The successful candidate will lead and manage across renewable technologies and energy storage decarbonisation projects, coordinating a team of designers, engineers, suppliers, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within cost, consumption and carbon budgets, and to the client's satisfaction.

This role will involve some travel with 1-2 days per week in the Manchester area.

Job Description:
What you'll be doing:
  • Lead and manage a cross-functional service delivery team of Renewable Technology Engineers to ensure efficient operation of sustainability projects and initiatives and ensure QA function.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Product, and subject matter experts, to facilitate smooth contract execution.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners, including supply chain partners, providers, and contractors, to ensure the work is done correctly and within budget and timeline and align project objectives and timelines. This will include management of evaluations/inspections after the installations to ensure that the installed measures are performing as expected.
  • Oversee project/contract management activities, ensuring all projects are delivered in accordance with the agreed-upon scope and quality standards.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of renewable technologies operations delivery and support, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.
  • Problem-Solving: Addressing and resolving unforeseen issues that arise during renewable energy and energy storage projects. Testing renewable technology solutions in digital twins/shadows and energy modelling platforms/software and working with academic partners to develop and innovate on this.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of renewable energy systems including liaison to specialists to achieve successful DNO agreements on connections applications.
What we're looking for:
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of renewable energy systems in the UK is essential, desirable would be experience in applying this in UK public sector estate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Chartered membership of a related professional institution.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working on renewable energy efficiency is required.
