Job Description for Renewable Energy Consulting Engineer

Fichtner Consulting Engineers Ltd is a leading technical consultancy with over 34 years of successful projects in the UK and Ireland. We focus on facilitating energy infrastructure projects that support the energy transition. Our team of Engineers and Consultants provides innovative design, intellectual, and engineering services to developers, investors, and owner-operators across the energy sector.

We are expanding our renewables team and are seeking an experienced renewable energy consulting engineer with a background in solar PV or BESS. This role is based in our Stockport office and is key to our growth plans.

We are looking for:

• An electrical or renewables-based degree.
• Experience with industry-standard software (PV Sys, PV Case, PV Sol) for solar resource and energy yield assessments.
• Experience in feasibility studies and design reviews.
• Project management experience during development, construction, or operational phases of large-scale ground-mounted solar projects.
• Knowledge of renewable energy project financing, including technical due diligence.
• Understanding of technical risks in solar projects and ability to identify potential design or installation risks.
• Knowledge of standard contracts applicable to construction and renewable energy projects.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, models, specifications, and functional descriptions accurately.
• Experience in preparing high-quality technical reports and models for clients.
• Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and EU for client meetings, site visits, and factory tests.
• Eligibility to work in the UK without visa restrictions.
