Job description

Our client, an award-winning removals and storage company, is currently looking to appoint an experienced Removals Warehouse Assistant & Forklift Driver to join their expanding team in London.

As a Removals Warehouse Assistant & Forklift Driver, you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day warehouse and operations activities. As a senior team member, you will support the Removals Warehouse Manager in directing crew, fleet, and yard management. A typical day involves 60% forklifting, 20% administration, and 20% warehousing.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing warehousing activities such as ordering, receiving shipments, processing records, and preparing reports.
• Operating forklifts to make client containers and empties available.
• Verifying received items against purchase orders and customer goods.
• Maintaining inventory data and assisting with inventory control.
• Coordinating with drivers, dispatchers, and crews regarding deliveries, shipments, and container handling.
• Preparing reports, schedules, invoices, and other documentation.
• Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policies in warehouse and on the road.
• Overseeing morning dispatch activities and yard operations.
• Supporting fleet control, including vehicle checks and maintenance.
• Conducting monthly stock checks and preparing storage reports.
• Assisting with crew briefing and debriefing, and managing administrative planning tasks.
• Controlling fleet operations, including daily checks and vehicle presentation.
• Implementing efficiency and service improvements.
• Supervising and mentoring crew members, managing performance and training.
• Collaborating with HR on absence and performance issues.
• Supporting the Removal Manager with audits and safety compliance.

Applicants should hold a certified forklift license, preferably D1 reach, with 2+ years of relevant experience.

This physically demanding role requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds regularly.

The position offers a salary of up to GBP32,000, depending on experience and skills.
