Job summary

Zedra seeks an Associate VAT Director to lead complex VAT advisory for a portfolio of clients, reporting to the Tax Director and mentoring managers and staff. You will drive growth, ensure top-tier client service, and manage international VAT matters with commercial acumen.

You will demonstrate strong project management, leadership, and a deep UK VAT knowledge base, working with the wider network to deliver high-quality advice and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• ICAEW, ACCA or CTA qualification required.
• 5+ years post-qualification experience with management of a medium-sized team.
• Strong UK VAT knowledge and international VAT awareness.
• Proven ability to lead business development and client proposals.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of VAT service line, ensuring robust procedures, managing risk and compliance.
• Drive commercial performance by identifying opportunities for additional billing and special projects.
• Build relationships with London office departments and wider Zedra group for cross-department collaboration.
• Prepare commercial proposals and engagement letters for new client opportunities.
• Review VAT returns for significant and complex clients.
• Lead on special VAT projects and liaise with senior staff as appropriate.
• Manage WIP and billing for your portfolio of clients.
• Assist with the appraisal process and collect team feedback.
• Ensure training development and CPD records are up to date.
• Complete accurate timesheets and obtain timely approvals.
