tk accelis Trading is seeking an experienced Lead Software Architect to own the architecture of SteelBuy, a secure B2B marketplace for metals. The role leads a global engineering effort, shaping technical standards and the productised platform while engaging with teams in the UK, US and India.

Based in the UK with remote work and international travel, you will drive architectural decisions, promote best practices, and deliver scalable, secure software across markets.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within software engineering, including designing software or systems architecture.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot and Kotlin.
• Experience designing microservices and distributed architectures.
• Good knowledge of REST API design and system integration.
• Experience working with ecommerce, marketplace or comparable digital platform architectures.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented analysis, design principles and common design patterns.
• Good knowledge of relational databases, SQL and database schema design.
• Experience with ORM technologies such as JPA/Hibernate or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of automated testing, unit testing and test-driven development.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into clear architecture and technical direction.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.
• Experience working with internationally distributed teams.

Responsabilités

• Own and evolve the overall software and systems architecture for SteelBuy, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, maintainable and adaptable.
• Transform the platform from a US-focused implementation into a reusable technical product for future markets and business models.
• Translate business and system requirements into high-level technical designs, architecture and documentation.
• Define functional and non-functional technical requirements and help shape the engineering backlog.
• Lead architectural decisions covering technology, development approaches, workflows, integration patterns and coding standards.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to developers and engineers.
• Oversee development to ensure solutions align with architecture and design principles.
• Establish and promote engineering best practices including Agile delivery, TDD, automated testing and CI.
• Design REST APIs and microservices-based solutions.
• Support architecture of enterprise and ERP integrations.
• Evaluate tools and approaches to improve quality and efficiency.
• Remain technically engaged, contribute to solutions and code where valuable.
• Support CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and business stakeholders across countries and time zones.
• Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Foster culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
