Job summary

Blind Veterans UK is seeking a Technology Practitioner to empower blind and visually impaired veterans through rehabilitation programmes and digital inclusion training. This 12-month fixed-term contract is home-based in the UK, with a 35-hour week and a focus on practical assistive technology support.

You will deliver 50–60 programmes a year, stay up to date on accessibility features and provide remote and on-site support as needed, helping veterans gain independence and confidence in using

Qualifications

• Nationally recognised Training Qualification and/or practical experience of delivering training.
• Knowledge of Assistive and/or Smart Technology.
• Understanding of mobile phone systems and accessibility features.
• Ability to assess people’s needs.
• Willingness to undergo training relating to vision impairment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to verbally explain complex instructions clearly.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Deliver between 50 and 60 rehabilitation programmes each year.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of assistive technology, software and applications.
• Provide digital inclusion support and awareness training to colleagues and volunteers.
• Carry out remote support and home visits where required.
• Attend national planning and professional development events.
