Job summary

HRGO Recruitment seeks an experienced Technical Design Manager (Solar PV) to lead the technical development and engineering function for commercial/industrial projects across the UK. You will oversee design from enquiry to handover, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer expectations.

You will develop innovative, commercially viable solar solutions, produce tender submissions, and lead a team of engineers. This role requires travel across the UK and periodic office attendance.

Qualifications

• Proven Solar PV design/engineering or technical management experience.
• Experience interpreting EPC contracts and ITT documentation.
• Able to produce tender submissions, BoQs and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical reviews of enquiries, ITT and contractor specs.
• Develop compliant, efficient Solar PV designs for commercial/industrial projects.
• Prepare tender submissions, cost proposals and equipment schedules.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies and energy modelling.
• Review layouts, SLDs, cable sizing and AC network calculations.
• Identify risks and apply value engineering across pre-construction.
• Provide technical leadership to project teams and management.
• Act as primary technical authority for Solar PV across the UK business.
• Develop engineering standards and governance processes.
• Review designs and supporting documentation for quality control.
• Support commissioning, resolve technical queries and issues.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and suppliers throughout projects.
