About the Role

Our client is looking for a visionary Remote Senior Telecom Solutions Architect to spearhead the design and evolution of their telecommunications infrastructure. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in defining the technical strategy for our client's next-generation network services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. This role demands a deep understanding of current and emerging telecom technologies, coupled with the ability to translate complex business needs into comprehensive architectural blueprints. As a key member of our client's technology leadership, you will drive innovation and influence the direction of their telecommunications services, working collaboratively with distributed teams. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the overall technical architecture for telecommunications services, aligning with business objectives.
• Design end-to-end solutions for new products and services, encompassing network, compute, and storage requirements.
• Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and vendors to meet architectural goals.
• Create detailed architectural documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and proposals.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure successful implementation of architectural designs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development and operations teams.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in telecommunications and cloud computing.
• Conduct feasibility studies and proof-of-concepts for new technologies.
• Define and enforce architectural standards and governance.
• Present technical solutions and strategies to stakeholders at various levels.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• 10+ years of experience in telecommunications network design and architecture.
• Proven track record in designing large-scale, high-availability telecom solutions.
• Expertise in 5G, LTE, IMS, VoIP, and other relevant mobile and fixed-line technologies.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with network function virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN).
• Proficiency in scripting and automation tools.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
