Job summary

Computer Futures is seeking a Senior SQL Server DBA for a remote UK-based role. You will manage SQL Server 2022 on-premise environments, optimize performance, and automate tasks using PowerShell and SQL Server Agent.

You will work with developers and stakeholders to design robust database solutions, participate in 24/7 on-call support, and ensure security and disaster recovery readiness.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a SQL Server DBA in mid to senior roles.
• Proven expertise across SQL Server 2016–2022 with strong T-SQL skills.
• Experience automating tasks with PowerShell and SQL Server Agent.
• Strong focus on performance tuning, backups, DR, security, and HA in on‑prem environments.
• Eligible to live and work in the UK; hold a full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and improve SQL Server environments to ensure performance, availability, resilience, and security.
• Participate in an on-call rota for 24/7 database support.
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, analyse execution plans, and implement tuning improvements across business-critical systems.
• Write, optimise, and troubleshoot T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
• Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes with regular testing.
• Support high availability, database security, access control, monitoring, alerting, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
• Automate routine DBA tasks using PowerShell and SQL Server Agent; contribute to documentation and standards.
