Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive logistics/supply chain experience
• At least 3 years in a managerial/leadership role
• Deep knowledge of warehousing, transportation, inventory control
• Experience with logistics software (WMS, TMS, ERP)
• Remote work capability and legal to work in SA

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine logistics strategies to meet objectives
• Oversee daily logistics operations including warehousing, transport, inventory, and distribution

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in supply chain solutions, is seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Remote Senior Logistics Operations Manager to lead and optimize their extensive logistics network. This is a fully remote, senior-level position, allowing you to manage operations from anywhere within South Africa, with a focus on overseeing operations that intersect with the vibrant economic hub of Randburg, Gauteng, ZA . The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of end-to-end logistics, a proven track record in managing large teams and complex operations, and exceptional strategic thinking capabilities. You will be responsible for driving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service excellence across all logistics functions, ensuring our client remains at the forefront of the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and refine comprehensive logistics strategies to meet company objectives and enhance operational performance. Oversee day-to-day logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, inventory management, and distribution. Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of logistics professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency, cost management, and service levels. Identify and implement innovative solutions and technologies to streamline logistics processes and reduce costs. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, regulatory, and legal requirements across all logistics functions. Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and other external partners. Develop and manage budgets for the logistics department, ensuring financial targets are met. Conduct regular performance reviews of operations and personnel, providing constructive feedback and development plans. Drive strategic initiatives to optimize the supply chain and enhance customer satisfaction.

Requirements

A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role. Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex logistics operations. In-depth knowledge of warehousing, transportation, inventory control, and supply chain principles. Proven experience with logistics software, WMS, TMS, and ERP systems. Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Ability to thrive in a fully remote work environment, demonstrating self-discipline and effective remote collaboration. Experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving change initiatives. Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa.
