Job summary

Vitality is seeking a senior life underwriter to lead a robust post-issue QA programme and strengthen the accuracy of automated underwriting decisions. You will diagnose disclosures, influence improvements, and support audits across new business and retrospective claim assessments.

The role requires extensive life underwriting expertise, regulatory awareness, and collaboration with underwriting and operations teams to elevate quality standards and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Senior underwriter with in-depth medical and financial knowledge in Life, Serious Illness and Income Protection.
• Good working knowledge of regulatory procedures within the industry.
• Experience with post-issue underwriting QA is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a robust post-issue underwriting non-disclosure QA programme with Operational colleagues.
• Review monthly random and targeted samples of automated underwriting decisions and report findings.
• Identify non-disclosure trends across distribution channels and report insights.
• Recommend improvements to question sets, underwriting philosophy, and data collection.
• Report Operational Risks to the Head of Underwriting Quality and stay updated with changes to philosophy and systems.
• Provide new business underwriting audits and support retrospective underwriting of claims.
