Job summary

Beyond Sports seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Java) contractor to design and implement scalable backend services powering real-time sports data for millions of fans worldwide. You will work with Java 11+, Spring Boot, and microservice architectures to deliver robust APIs and data processing components.

This role is fully remote within Hungary, ASAP start, with no line management duties. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high performance, security, and maintainability

Qualifications

• Expert-level Java backend development experience
• Strong Spring Boot & Spring Framework knowledge
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate and ORM concepts
• Designing microservice architectures and RESTful APIs
• Solid Git workflows and version control practices
• Experience handling JSON data and testing with JUnit
• Proficient with Jira for task management
• Ability to write clear API/backend docs

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot
• Deliver well-structured, maintainable, and testable code
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs for web and mobile apps
• Integrate with third-party data providers (sports data, video, commentary)
• Use Git for version control and contribute to shared repositories
• Manage deployments across Dev, Test, Staging, Prod environments
• Ensure systems are performant, secure, and resilient
• Identify and manage project-level technical dependencies
• Participate in sprint planning and delivery-focused meetings
• Write and maintain API/backend technical documentation
• Contribute to code reviews and uphold best practices
