Transaction Recruitment Ltd. is partnering with a well-established services business to hire a Senior Financial Accountant for a fully remote role across the UK.

You will own statutory reporting and balance sheet integrity, leading month‑end close across UK entities with the Finance Director. Ideal candidates are ACA/ACCA qualified with 3+ years’ financial reporting experience, strong UK GAAP/IFRS (IFRS 16), and audit experience.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent is essential.
• 3+ years in financial reporting in industry.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, including IFRS 16.
• Experience with month-end close and external audits.

Responsibilities

• Run monthly close across UK entities, on time and to high standard.
• Own the balance sheet with thorough reconciliations and controls.
• Flag risks and opportunities to senior finance leadership early.
• Lead external audits for UK companies from planning to sign-off, coordinate internal audits.
• Oversee lease accounting under IFRS 16 with facilities to keep position accurate.
• Act as main contact for statutory matters for the parent group and prepare notes.
• Manage cash across UK entities to ensure liquidity and proper allocation.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns on time.
• Sign off payment runs with proper controls.
• Support Legal and Compliance to keep finance practices robust and compliant.
• Maintain relationships with external auditors and HMRC and respond to queries.

About the Business

A fantastic opportunity to join a well-established services business as a Senior Financial Accountant, paying £55,000 – £60,000 per annum, in a fully remote role with very flexible working. This is a hands‑on, technical role with real ownership of statutory reporting and balance sheet integrity across several UK companies. You'll partner day to day with the Finance Director and Head of Finance, acting as the trusted technical lead for the UK business.

Main Duties

• Running the monthly close across the UK entities, making sure every period is closed on time and to a high standard
• Owning the balance sheet, with thorough reconciliations and controls behind every account and outstanding items chased down with third parties
• Flagging risks and opportunities to senior finance leadership early, so decisions are made on the right information
• Leading the external audits for several UK companies from planning to sign-off, and coordinating internal audit reviews, making sure any actions raised are put right
• Taking responsibility for lease accounting under IFRS 16, working with the facilities team to keep the property position accurate and up to date
• Acting as the main point of contact for the parent group on statutory matters, including preparing the yearly reporting notes for group
• Overseeing cash across the UK companies, ensuring there is enough liquidity and that funds are allocated sensibly
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns on time
• Signing off payment runs, ensuring the right checks are in place before money leaves the business
• Supporting Legal and Compliance colleagues to keep finance practices robust and fully compliant with regulation
• Building strong relationships with the external auditors and HMRC, handling queries promptly and resolving issues within agreed timescales
• Keeping stakeholders updated on the control environment and audit planning, and working with operational teams to make processes run smoothly from start to finish
• Staying current with relevant accounting standards and setting a high bar for accuracy and professionalism across the team

This role is fully remote with very flexible working, so you can work from home anywhere in the UK. You'll be joining a supportive, collaborative finance team where you'll be the go-to technical expert, with a visible, influential role and genuine scope to make your mark on reporting and controls.

What We Are Looking For

• ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) — essential
• 3+ years in a financial reporting role in industry is essential
• Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, including IFRS 16, is essential
• Solid experience of month end, balance sheet reconciliations and running external audits is essential
• Experience across a multi-entity or group structure is desirable but not essential
• A practice background followed by strong industry experience is beneficial but not essential
• Strong Excel skills and experience with a modern ERP such as Business Central
• Experience in education, healthcare or another regulated or publicly funded sector is beneficial but not essential
