Job summary

Sellick Partnership is recruiting for a Capital Principal Accountant with a strong capital focus to own capital accounting, programme monitoring and financial strategy for a South Coast local authority. This senior finance role offers exposure to high-level financial management.

You will lead on capital accounting, strategy reviews and provide financial modelling and expert advice to senior stakeholders, with opportunities to develop staff and influence service delivery.

Qualifications

• AAT or equivalent experience is essential.
• CCAB qualification desirable.
• Knowledge of local authority accounting and CIPFA guidance advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital accounting and capital programme monitoring.
• Review capital strategy and programme.
• Provide resources analysis and financial modelling.
• Lead option appraisal and business analysis.
• Advise senior managers and elected Members on complex financial matters.
• Support financial planning, budget monitoring and reporting.
• Provide expert advice on accounting, financial controls and regulatory requirements.
• Drive improvements to financial systems, processes and procedures.
• Support financial governance and audit compliance.
• Manage, mentor and develop finance staff.
