GitLab is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) for the Flow Components team, offering a fully remote role with UK work location. You will focus on backend engineering in Python, leveraging LangChain and LangGraph to build secure, reliable Flow Registry features within the Duo Workflow Service and GitLab monolith.

You will collaborate across Product, UX, and AI teams to deliver scalable APIs, improve testing, and maintain high performance while supporting frontend clients and a strong user

Qualifications

• Production Python apps with LangChain/LangGraph.
• Designing and shipping AI-powered backend features.
• REST/GraphQL APIs with scalability and backward compatibility.
• Cross-stack familiarity (JS/Vue) and frontend support.

Responsibilities

• Develop, ship, and maintain Flow Registry features across the Duo Workflow Service and GitLab monolith backend.
• Collaborate with Product Management, UX, frontend, backend, and AI specialists to refine requirements.
• Design and review GraphQL and REST APIs and contracts with frontend clients.
• Improve automated tests and quality with frameworks like RSpec.
• Contribute to observability, on-call rotations, and incident investigations.
