Job summary

Multis UK Limited is seeking a Senior Backend Developer (PHP, AI) to design and enhance production systems, APIs, and online marketplaces. The role supports remote work with flexible patterns and involves AI-assisted development.

You will work on backend applications, REST APIs, and integration with third-party services, while guiding junior developers and leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency and code quality.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial backend development experience.
• Very good PHP and SQL knowledge.
• Experience designing and maintaining REST APIs.
• Git and modern development workflows.
• Linux and Docker experience.
• Ability to understand and improve existing codebases.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
• Comfortable using modern AI coding tools and AI agents as part of development.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of backend applications and REST APIs.
• Development in PHP 8+ with SQL databases.
• Architecture and improvement of existing production systems.
• Search, automation and third-party service integrations.
• Code review, debugging and automated testing.
• Use of AI coding tools and AI agents for development, research, testing and code review.
• Integration of AI APIs and agents into applications where appropriate.
• Technical guidance for junior developers.
