SILA Linguists is seeking freelance Scottish Gaelic translators, transcribers and interpreters for public sector, education, broadcasting and heritage projects across the UK.

As part of our team you will translate, transcribe and subtitle Gaelic content, while maintaining strict confidentiality and accuracy. Remote work with on-site bookings is available, with opportunities for ongoing professional development and support from our operations team.

Qualifications

• Fluent Scottish Gaelic and English with excellent written Gaelic.
• DPSI or equivalent qualification is an advantage; CIOL or ITI membership welcomed.
• Experience with public sector Gaelic terminology or Gaelic-medium education is an advantage.
• Willingness to complete a DBS check for assignments in healthcare, education or with vulnerable people.
• Right to work in the UK for on-site assignments; reliable internet and quiet workspace for remote work.

Responsabilités

• Translate English into Gaelic following Gaelic Orthographic Conventions and client terminology.
• Transcribe and subtitle Gaelic speech for broadcasters, archives and researchers.
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality on all assignments.
• Build and maintain glossaries for sectors you work in.
• Attend video and telephone assignments from a private, quiet space with reliable connection.
