Job summary

Crafty Apes is seeking a talented Rigger to join our high-end VFX team. This mid-to-senior role is 100% remote within the UK, with collaboration across Animation, Modeling, and FX to deliver robust rigs for characters, creatures, and mechanical props.

You will build, test, and maintain rigs, develop rigging tools, and push for clean topology and natural deformation. Python scripting (MEL a plus) helps automate workflows in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years in a VFX, feature film, or high-end episodic rigging.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, skinning, and cloth/muscle integration.
• Proficient in pipeline scripting with Python; MEL adds value.

Responsibilities

• Build high-quality rigs for characters, creatures, and hard-surface props.
• Develop rigging tools and scripts to automate workflows.
• Collaborate with Modeling and Animation for topology and deformation.
• Skinning and weight-painting for natural movement.
• Troubleshoot rigging issues and maintain documentation.
