Job summary

CIBSE Journal is seeking an experienced Railway Station Design CAD Technician/Designer for a UK-wide, largely remote role. The position offers a flexible contract with an initial 6‑month term and options for full‑ or part‑time hours.

Remote working is supported after induction, with regular Teams meetings to coordinate with the design team. You will develop station design drawings for Network Rail projects, collaborating with engineers to deliver compliant design packages on schedule.

Qualifications

• Proven experience on Network Rail station design projects.
• Strong CAD capability to complete your own design/drawing work independently.
• Good understanding of rail design standards and station environments.
• Experience producing design documentation within a rail infrastructure setting.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage your own workload.

Responsibilities

• Produce and modify station design drawings using CAD software.
• Develop designs in accordance with Network Rail standards and requirements.
• Work closely with engineers and project teams to deliver design packages.
• Attend virtual design reviews and project meetings via Teams.
• Ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated and issued to programme deadlines.
• Support design assurance and technical compliance activities.
