Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Procurement Assistant Manager to lead the commercial management of a portfolio of indirect contracts, ensuring value for money and delivery of service outcomes. The role focuses on contract management, supplier performance, and governance within a supportive team.

You will develop contract management plans, run supplier reviews, and drive continuous improvement while working with service areas and procurement colleagues.

Qualifications

• Educated to A-Level standard with MCIPS or working towards such qualification.
• Experience managing contracts and supplier relationships with risk and value delivery.
• Knowledge of public sector procurement regulations and governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of indirect contracts, ensuring obligations and service outcomes are delivered.
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and suppliers as trusted advisor on performance matters.
• Establish and monitor contract management plans, performance measures and service improvement initiatives.
• Lead supplier performance reviews and governance meetings; identify and resolve issues.
• Identify opportunities for cost efficiencies, continuous improvement and innovation.
• Support contract mobilisation, implementation and transition activities with stakeholder engagement.
• Assess and mitigate contractual, commercial and supplier risks; manage changes and disputes.
