Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Physics Subject Matter Expert to help train and improve AI models. You will design rigorous physics problems and craft clear solutions that demonstrate precise reasoning.

This fully remote, hourly freelance role offers flexible scheduling (10–40 hours/week) and the opportunity to influence AI understanding of physics across subfields from mechanics to quantum theory. No prior AI experience required; you will work asynchronously with researchers and receive ongoing contract

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or have completed a Master's degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field
• Strong problem-solving skills across multiple advanced physics domains
• Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in writing
• Detail-oriented with a systematic approach to evaluating reasoning quality
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on task-based assignments
• No prior AI or data annotation experience required

Responsibilities

• Design rigorous physics problems spanning mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and more
• Develop clear, step-by-step solutions showing precise reasoning
• Evaluate AI-generated physics responses for accuracy and depth
• Identify gaps in AI reasoning and provide actionable feedback
• Collaborate with researchers to build benchmarks across undergraduate to Masters topics
• Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule
