Job summary

GeoPura is recruiting an engineer for its Remote Operating Centre (ROC) in Sheffield to monitor and remotely operate Hydrogen Power Units (HPUs) and diagnose issues across a 24/7 operation.

You will escalate faults, support field engineers, coordinate fuel usage and deliveries, and help drive continuous improvement in reliability and efficiency while collaborating with Siemens Energy and major clients.

Qualifications

• 2:1/First Class Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Chemical preferred).
• Experience operating and remotely fault-finding industrial or energy assets.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
• Technical understanding of networking and control systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
• Proactive and self-motivated, with a passion for renewable and zero-emission energy.
• High attention to detail and strong computer literacy (MS Office Suite, CRM tools such as Salesforce Field Service Lightning).
• Experience in a Remote Operating Centre or fast-paced operational environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and remotely operate HPU assets, identifying and resolving operational issues through diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Escalate complex faults to on-call field engineers and provide advanced technical support when required.
• Provide operational and customer support during shifts, including liaising with suppliers, site teams, and customers.
• Track hydrogen fuel usage, coordinate delivery schedules, and perform remote system shutdowns during refuelling.
• Monitor operational KPIs, analyse performance data, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Execute emergency and contingency response plans to minimise downtime and operational risk.
• Produce clear data reports and communicate technical insights to internal teams and stakeholders.
• Work as part of a growing 24/7 operation (initially day shifts, moving to shift-based pattern in 2026).

Current clients of GeoPura include Netflix, BBC, HS2 and Polestar EV cars. Due to growth, GeoPura are recruiting an engineer for their Remote Operating Centre (ROC) in Sheffield.

Position overview:
