Job summary

Something & Nothing is seeking a hands-on Management Accountant to cover a 12-month maternity leave. You will own the month-end close, oversee reporting, and manage cashflow in a fast-moving, startup-like finance function with autonomy and direct access to the CFO.

Qualifications

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
• Startup or high-growth experience; comfortable with ambiguity and pace.
• Strong knowledge across financial control, reporting and cashflow management.
• Hands-on proficiency with Xero (essential).
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to interrogate data.
• Excellent attention to detail, well organized, and able to manage workload remotely.
• Proactive, commercially-minded communicator who translates numbers for non-finance colleagues.
• Nice to have: FMCG/food & beverage exposure, USA sales tax reporting, inventory accounting.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close process end to end, incl. journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Contribute to monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow).
• Prepare year-end accounts in line with statutory/regulatory reporting.
• Maintain robust financial controls and reconciliations across ledgers.
• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, A/P, A/R and banking in Xero.
• Contribute to cashflow forecasting and working capital management.
• Manage payments, supplier relationships and credit control.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and business partnering."
• Assist with VAT and US sales tax returns, payroll inputs and year-end audit prep."
• Continuously improve finance processes and reporting as the business scales.
