Job summary

Totec is seeking a High Voltage Commissioning Engineer to join its rapidly expanding team. You will lead testing and commissioning of electrical systems from 11kV to 132kV on grid connections, substations, and renewable energy projects across the UK.

The role offers a base salary of £72,000 with overtime opportunities that can push earnings beyond £100,000. You will plan commissioning activities, perform functional testing, fault-finding, and produce site documentation while liaising with

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years’ hands-on experience in high voltage commissioning (11kV 132kV).
• Experience on DNO, ICP, IDNO, or private HV networks.
• Familiarity with protection relay configuration and secondary injection testing (e.g. Omicron, Megger).
• Knowledge of commissioning procedures, electrical safety regulations, and risk assessment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
• Independent and team-focused with a solution-driven approach.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and execution of commissioning plans and procedures.
• Functional testing of HV equipment including transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and SCADA systems.
• Fault finding and diagnostics.
• Site documentation and reporting.
• Liaising with clients, DNOs, ICPs, and project managers.
