Overview

We are seeking 1-2 General Practitioners to provide non-patient-facing remote clinical support over a 6-month fixed-term contract.

Contract and Location

Contract: Fixed-term, 6 months
Commitment: 1 5-hour session daily Mon - Fri, flexible working options available.
Rate: £9,500 - £10,500 per session depending on experience
Location: Remote UK-based, with the option to be based in our Paignton or Torquay surgeries if preferred.

Main duties
  • Triage Pathology Results
  • Review and action incoming results
  • Escalate urgent/abnormal findings
  • Contact patients with results/advice via AccuRx SMS/email
  • Sign and review prescriptions
  • Review and sign prescriptions
  • Resolve medication queries
  • Carry out medication reviews
  • Triage Clinical Correspondence
  • Triage incoming letters from hospitals and specialists
  • Allocate tasks to the appropriate clinician/admin team
Responsibilities during session

As a General Practitioner and experienced clinician, you will be responsible for managing a substantial portion of the practice\'s clinical administration during your session. Typical expected volumes are:

  • Admin type
  • Volume expected/hour
  • Pathology results: 25+ per hour
  • Prescription queries: 30+ per hour
  • Triaging clinical letters: 25+ per hour
  • Medication reviews: 15+ per hour

Operating from our main site in Paignton and our branch site in Torquay, we care for upwards of 26,000 patients in a friendly team environment. Our GP team is supported by ANPs, Pharmacists, Paramedics, ARRS staff including Pharmacy Technicians and Social Prescribers, as well as nursing, reception, and admin teams. We offer opportunities for portfolio working and Integrated care involvement. We have a duty doctor on hand each day with no booked patients to help with queries.

Job description and responsibilities

The primary aim of this role is to enable patient-facing staff to focus on direct care, by minimising tasks returned to the practice. Success will be measured by the timely completion, review, and filing of a high volume of clinical administrative work. This may involve direct contact with patients to discuss pathology results or clarify prescription queries. You may work flexibly across the role according to practice requirements. Reasonable duties beyond those listed may be allocated as needed.
