Job summary

GIS Recruiter Ltd. is seeking a GIS Technician to support a UK Council on a 3 month contract. The role is remote, focusing on capturing and maintaining spatial data and ensuring GIS information is accurate and fit for purpose.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of commercial GIS experience, with practical skills in ESRI ArcGIS and QGIS, and a track record of delivering quality data work in a remote, independent setup. Availability to start in November 2026 is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' commercial GIS experience.
• Practical experience using ESRI ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Desirable experience with UK Local Government GIS projects.
• Remote/independent work ability and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Capture, digitise, edit and maintain spatial data using ESRI ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Undertake quality assurance checks on spatial and attribute data.
• Maintain GIS datasets to set standards and project needs.
• Produce maps and spatial information for council services.
• Keep clear records of data sources and updates.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet deadlines.
